Family Self-Sufficiency Program Grants 2000


MICHIGAN

Flint Housing Commission --- $40,000

The Flint Housing Commission is applying for the first time for FSS funding. The Housing Commission has seventy-three (73) families who are interested in participating in the program. The grant-funded coordinator will act as a coach and counselor for program participants, helping each participant draft a plan, with both short and long term goals, which will allow them to become self-sufficient.

Michigan State Housing Development Authority --- $44,000

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) has 2,800 households participating in its FSS Program. Approximately 33% of these households currently have escrow accounts. With the additional funding, MSHDA expects to assist more than 100 additional households. The FSS Coordinator would assist with policy development, establish program forms to assure consistent delivery of the program, conduct and coordinate case management, conduct and coordinate income criteria, work with individual escrow accounts, develop and monitor individual Tenant Services Plans and generally market the program.

Wyoming Housing Commission --- $36,638

The Wyoming Housing Commission has an FSS program size of 25 in its approved FSS action plan. There are twenty (20) Section 8 families currently enrolled in the program.. The FSS Coordinator would serve as a professional case manager, conducting needs assessments, setting short and long term goals, developing the FSS contract and working with the family to meet the goals of the plan.
