The Beaumont Housing Authority has 26 families currently enrolled in the FSS program. This funding will allow the agency to hire an FSS Program Coordinator for a year. The FSS Program Coordinator's function is to help assure that program participants are linked to the supportive services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.
Dallas Housing Authority --- $42,120
There are 1,593 families currently enrolled in the FSS program. The FSS Coordinator will assist clients in developing goal oriented plans for achieving and maintaining independent living.
El Paso Housing Authority --- $31,624
The Housing Authority (HA) has 131 families currently enrolled in the FSS program. Through their FSS program, the HA coordinates and collaborates with other local agencies and supportive services throughout El Paso to ensure that participants are able to locate, access and use community resources.
Edinburg Housing Authority --- $34,966
The Housing Authority will employ the services of one Section 8 Family Self-Sufficiency Supplemental(FSS) program coordinator for one year. The Section 8 FSS program is intended to promote the development of local strategies to coordinate the use of assistance under the Section 8 rental certificate and rental voucher programs with public and private resources to enable participating families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. The FSS program coordinator assures that program participants are linked to the supportive services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.

The Housing Authority has 30 families currently enrolled in the FSS program. This funding will allow the agency to hire an FSS Program Coordinator for a year. The City of Longview has 60 families currently enrolled in the FSS program. This funding will allow the agency to hire an FSS Program Coordinator for a year. The Housing Authority (HA) has 14 families currently enrolled in the FSS program. This funding will allow the agency to hire an FSS Program Coordinator for a year. San Antonio Housing Authority --- $39,415
The FSS Program Coordinator's applications' purpose is to provide program coordination and insure that the program participants are linked to the supportive services they need to achieve self-sufficiency. The program model described in our application indicates the following key features: Ensuring that participants are committed to training and getting a job; Removing barriers that would limit a participant's ability to finish training and get a job; Improving participant's employability skills; Linking occupational skills training with the local labor market; and Collaboration and partnership with other agencies. As will be evident upon further review of our proposed model the primary philosophy is a distinct mix of services tailored to meet the specific requirements of our client population and the needs of local employees. It is important to note that our target population will be primarily female single head-of-household on TANF. Currently we have a total of 278 families residing in the Section 8 program that are under contract for the FSS Program.
Mission Housing Authority --- $16,993
The Mission Housing Authority Family Self-Sufficiency Section 8 Program has a total of 41 families currently participating and the FSS Coordinator continues the recruitment of potential clients. The FSS Coordinator coordinates services and provides clients with referrals to surrounding agencies for their specific needs which ultimately will lead to self-sufficiency. The Coordinator screens participants to ensure that they are committed to the requirements of the program such as training and seeking employment. Some of the agencies the FSS Program has partnered with are Hidalgo County Head start Program, Child Care Management Services, Office of Employment and Training including Mission School District, La Joya School District, and Sharyland School District.
Port Isabel --- $21,500
The Housing Authority of the City of Port Isabel' Family Self-Sufficiency program currently has 15 families enrolled in the program and continues to recruit families for enrollment. The program will also seek partnerships through supportive service organizations to provide the needed services to obtain economic independence for those families enrolled in the program. The Section 8 program coordinator will be responsible for assisting the residents with their needs assessments, to coordinate committees with the school district, welfare agencies, child care providers and local businesses. The coordinator will also monitor residents on achieving their goals and fulfilling their obligations.
