The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority in Norfolk, Virginia has 69 families currently participating in the Section 8 FSS program. Under the FSS program the participants' needs are assessed, goals developed, the FSS contract is established, and the plan is implemented. Referrals are encouraged during the family re-certification process and at the initial Section 8 briefings. The authority cooperates with the Norfolk Department of Social Services sharing information with Caseworkers so that FSS can support Virginia's Welfare to Work program (VIEW). The Section 8 FSS Program Coordinator does case work in addition to assessing community resources and coordinating the efforts of the program.
