RURAL HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FY2000 GRANTS

PROJECT SUMMARY

Indiana

The Southern VI Corporation located in Huntingburg will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount of $495,000. This innovative activities grant will be used for the redevelopment of the historic Homestead Hotel into affordable senior apartments, commercial space and a community room. Meals, transportation and on-site recreational, physical, mental and educational services will be provided to the seniors. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $3,026,600 for this project. Partners include: Indiana Housing Finance Authority, Indiana Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Interior, National Park Service, Federal Home Loan Bank, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Alliant Capital, Springs Valley Bank and Trust, Pioneer Development Services, Hoosier Uplands, Older Americans Services Corporation, Historic landmarks Foundation of Indiana, Town of West Baden Springs, Indiana Association for Community Economic Development, the West Baden Springs Historic Preservation Commission, local resident volunteers, Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, Circle K International, Indiana Natural Gas Corporation, The Louis and Henry Group, the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Orange County Economic Development Council.
