RURAL HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FY2000 GRANTS

PROJECT SUMMARY

Mississippi

The Three Rivers Community and Economic Development Corporation will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount of $50,000. This capacity building grant will be used to create jobs and build affordable housing in the Mississippi Delta Empowerment Zone. Activities include: homeownership seminars, 17 affordable housing units, homeownership maintenance program, leadership training for youth and a revolving loan program. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $100,000. Partners include: State of Mississippi Department of Economic and Community Development, Itta Bena Housing Authority, Mid Delta Empowerment Zone Alliance, Mississippi Employment Security Commission, State of Mississippi Department of Human Services, North Central Planning And Development District, Copiah Bank, Mississippi Valley State University, Global Trims, Leflore County Board of Supervisors and the Empowerment Zone National Centers for Excellence.
