PROJECT SUMMARY

New Hampshire

The Monadnock Economic Development Corporation in Keene will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount $50,000. This capacity building grant will build the capacity of rural regional development organizations to undertake economic development, including assisting the establishing of the statewide Alliance of Regional Development Corporations. Activities will include technical assistance, training, web site development, data base development, and a rural revolving loan fund. Leveraging resources for this project total $1,877,000. Key participants include: New Hampshire Office of State Planning, Fleet Bank, and New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority.

The Affordable Housing, Education & Development, Inc. in Littleton will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount of $240,000. This seed support grant will help launch Repairs AHEAD, which will provide housing rehabilitation loans to low and very low income homeowners, living in small, rural towns in northern New Hampshire. These homeowners are severely underserved by existing programs. Repairs AHEAD will also purchase, renovate, and re-sell single family properties to qualified low income buyers, in an effort to increase the supply of good quality, affordable housing available for purchase. AHEAD will use the grant to hire two staff members. Leveraging resources total $1,205,500 in support of this project. Key participants include: Tri-County Community Action Program, local lenders, social service providers, and municipalities.
