Minot Housing Authority --- $39,305
The Minot Housing Authority (MHA) will be funded for a One-year Service Coordinator Renewal Grant in the amount of $39,305. The Housing Authority will ensure that the elderly and disabled residents have access to the services they need to live independently and avoid premature or unnecessary institutionalization. While MHA administrative and maintenance staff attempted to deal with residents' problems, they did not have the training or time to make adequate assessments and referrals. A full-time Service Coordinator is now responsible for "linking" residents to the maze of existing services. Assessments and referrals are done pro-actively rather than following a crisis. The program has decreased the vacancy and turnover rate in these units, allowing staff to work more efficiently, and improve the quality of life of the residents.
