Manchester Housing Redevelopment --- $51,000
The Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority (MHRA) will be funded for a One-year Service Coordinator Grant in the amount of $51,000. The MHRA will employ one full-time and one part-time Service Coordinator for a 12 month grant period. These positions will ensure the residents of MHRA's 774 units of housing for the elderly and persons with disabilities have access to appropriate supportive services to enhance their quality of life, live independently, and avoid premature or unnecessary institutionalization. The Service Coordinators will a.) identify at-risk residents who isolate themselves, lack familial support, suffer for mental illness and alcohol/drug abuse, and are growing more frail as they age, and b.) work closely with area supportive service agencies to facilitate outreach and service provision to these targeted populations.
Laconia Housing and Redevelopment Authority --- $31,508
The Laconia Housing and Redevelopment Authority (LHRA) will be funded for a One-year Service Coordinator Renewal Grant in the amount of $31,508. The Housing Authority will continue to employ a Support Service Coordinator for Sunrise Towers in Laconia. Currently LHRA's Support Service Coordinator works with elderly residents of Sunrise Towers providing information and referral to local services and programs that assist/improve elderly and disabled people's ability to function independently. During the past year, the Support Service Coordinator provided 75 elderly residents with access to a variety of supportive services, including information on medical services, nutrition, education and social services. Additional funding will allow the Coordinator to continue to provide these services to current and future residents of Sunrise Towers.
