Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority --- $46,377

The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority Received a $46,377 Service Coordinator Grant. The grant will compliment the service presently provided, such as the contract health care program, exercise program and other recreational/social programs. The grant will be used primarily to support the service coordinator position, i.e. salary, fringe benefits, cellular telephone, mileage reimbursement, office supplies and conference participation. The service coordinator will be charged with the responsibility of recruiting residents to participate in programs, conducting assessments at each resident's re-examination period, coordinating an annual wellness conference and designing programs for the elderly and disabled, in addition to other service coordination activities.  

Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority --- $282,222

The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) will be funded for a One-year Service Coordinator Renewal Grant in the amount of $282,222. The Housing Authority will continue to provide services to over 1,500 elderly residents and persons with disabilities which will enable these individuals to live in nine elderly housing communities and seven family housing developments. The Service Coordinator Program will ensure that the elderly and persons with disabilities can maintain themselves in independent living communities. The persons served will receive the necessary community supportive programs and services that promotes a substantial quality of life and avoids a more restricted living environment. The program provides RRHA with six service coordinators on staff who develop or link elderly and persons with disabilities residing in RRHA housing communities to a wide range of community services.
