RURAL HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FY2000 GRANTS

PROJECT SUMMARY

South Carolina

The Williamsburg Enterprise Community Commission in Kingstree will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $50,000. This capacity building grant will help improve the standard and style of living of residents of the area. This organization is dedicated to revitalizing Williamsburg and Lower Florence Counties of South Carolina. To this end the Williamsburg Place, an affordable rural single family housing subdivision with emphasis on low to very low income residents is being developed. The funds will be used to assist in this effort. In-kind leveraging of $113,300 is proposed for this project. Key partners included: Williamsburg County, the Town of Kingstree, Williamsburg Technical College, Winthrop University Regional Small Business Development Center, USDA Rural Development, the Housing Authority of Kingstree and grassroots citizenry.
