Deputy Secretary, Atlanta Mayor Cut Ribbon, Break Ground at New Affordable Housing Complex

$25 million in HUD funds supported Ashley Scholars Landing, a new and growing development set to serve hundreds of Atlanta families

ATLANTA - On Tuesday, September 26th, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to break the ground on Ashley Scholars Landing, the final phase of rental housing for the University Choice Neighborhood. This facility received $25 million in HUD funding, making the project a collaborative effort of federal, local, and private efforts.

"Today, I saw an example of how HUD partners with private, state, and local organizations to build quality, safe, and affordable housing for renters and homeowners," said Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman. "It was an honor to stand alongside other housing leaders and the countless others who helped us deliver these new housing units to the hundreds of Atlanta families they will serve, this is why funding HUD's programs are so important because without us these units would not have been built."

This morning, Deputy Secretary Todman joined Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Christopher Nunn, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Eugene Jones, CEO of Atlanta Housing, and leadership of The Integral Group to mark both a historic groundbreaking and a ribbon-cutting of new housing. This neighborhood, located near Atlanta University Center Consortium schools, will offer accommodations for all income levels, featuring market-rate, affordable, and workforce rental housing.
