Creating Jobs in North Hartford's Promise Zone
On February 1, 2017, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin joined federal, state and local officials in an informational tour and roundtable discussion of the North Hartford Promise Zone. Held at the American Job Center, the discussion provided an opportunity to learn more about the services offered by the Center which include résumé preparation and critique, job search assistance, career counseling and veterans' services. During the discussion, Mayor Bronin and other key North Hartford Promise Zone leaders, heard from several American Job Center businesses and clients to learn about their experiences and the importance of Hartford workforce development. Additionally, youth from the Promise Zone: YES! workforce development program, funded by the Department of Labor, spoke about the development support they received from Capital Workforce Partners. The program provides 275 in-school and out-of-school youth with career development support and employment for two years.
