Step
2: Leave a Calling Card
You need to give your audience something to remember you by -- A copy of your front page, a business card, or some other promotional item.
- Ensure that when you speak to a group, they walk away with something in their hands to remind them of your website
- Promotional items don't have to be expensive. You can buy some items for pennies, such as:
- Refrigerator magnets
- Bookmarks
- Pencils
- Post-it notes
- Before every major meeting of your audience group, print off the front page, highlight the address and distribute to attendees.
- But don't stop there!
- Put a stack of bookmarks at the public library
- Stick small posters with your web address on bulletin boards at
grocery stores
- The important thing is this: put your web address on everything you
issue
- Stationary
- Business cards
- Fax cover sheets
- The sign in your window
- The address in your local phone book
- Advertising you put in the paper or on TV
- T-shirts you give to people in your organization
- Everywhere you put your address or phone number, you should include
your web address
- Put your web address on your voice mail message
- For example: "We can't take your call right now, but you might want to check our website at www.hud.gov"
Be creative! Get that address everywhere you can.
