Surf the Web

My final tip is to surf the web...

...Not just once or twice, but try to make time on a periodic basis. Once a week or at least once a month you should just go exploring.

There is so much available on the web that is free that we've only scratched the surface. You could use your website to create mailing lists for discussions, allow visitors to sign a guestbook, or send notifications when your pages have changed. These services--and more--are available free on the web.

Some ideas of where to surf:

  • Entertainment websites
  • Websites you'd like to link to, and more importantly, those you wish would link to your website
  • Personal web pages and web pages created by college students--they want to do cool and interesting things but have no money. Think of the resources you'll find!

Pay attention to the websites that are good and bad. Print out copies for reference when you redesign your website.

The key is you have to spend some time learning what's on the web in order to create a good website.
